Challenge yourself

While there are rules in the creation of art and one must think about the elements and principles, these do not need to limit your design. It is ok to challenge yourself and attempt a new way. This is a portrait I created using a HB lead in a pacer pencil. I grew up being told not to use HB lead for drawing as it did not allow enough change in tonal value and hue. This portrait is 35cm x 35cm on watercolour paper.
